Yarn Stash
Since my yarn stash has actually become stash-like (and I can't think of a single time I bought yarn that wasn't for a specific project - I just seem to stock up on projects ahead of time!), I thought I'd categorize it here so that I don't have to keep rooting through the big plastic bins.

Miscellaneous Cascade 220. Most of this has actually been used for projects and is just leftover. Some was intended for a baby sweater that never happened and then turned into a couple of felted purses. I still have plenty for a stripey kid sweater, though, which I really should do at some point before Aaron's niece gets too big to make quick projects for. Maybe a sweater vest would be cute (and more likely to fit longer, since she's skinny but gets taller and taller). Several skeins are from the intarsia on the Floral Felted Bag.

Cascade 220. This is for the cabled skirt in the Fall 2004 IK (Heathery Duo - down toward the bottom). I don't plan to make it until later this year, but I got a screaming deal on the yarn (and it's even the same color as in the magazine, which I really liked).

Cascade Fixation. I bought this to make my stepdad some socks for Christmas, but I completely ran out of time (and he has huge feet). They will probably still become socks for him, just sometime in the future.

Cascade Sierra. This was originally for a Chickami, which I ripped out. Then I started another tank patter on it. I don't like the fabric it's making, though, so it's been abandoned. I think it's still destined to be a tank, I just need to figure out the right pattern for the yarn. I might revert back to the Chickami - I ripped because I screwed it up, not because there was anything wrong with the pattern.

Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino. I was going to make my dad two pairs of socks for Christmas, but I picked a more complicated pair instead. I might save this for another pair of socks later, but it would also make some awesome gloves (I kept sticking my hands down inside the Retro Rib socks as I was knitting). I've heard this yarn doesn't wear terribly well, so some dressy gloves might be a good bet.

Cashmere/Silk Laceweight. This was a contender for Dad's socks that I got on eBay, but it was far too fine (it's a bit thinner than embroidery floss). It'll probably wind up as a lace scarf or shawl at some point. It's quite silky feeling.

Serendipity Yarns Laceweight Merino. This is for the Dayflower Daydream shawl from Shawls and Scarves (The Best of Knitters.

Serendipity Yarns Worsted Merino. This was a Christmas gift from Ellen. I made a multi-directional scarf out of it (which I am complemplating felting and wearing as a belt, because I think it would be really cute) and have quite a bit leftover. Not sure what I'll use it for, but the yarn is awesome and super soft.

Lamb's Pride Bulky. I bought this in Ashland when I had to drive Aaron down for a meeting (and so we could bring back his work truck that was down there). I had all day to kill and it was freezing out, so I bought some yarn to make a hat. I then didn't like the hat and have partially ripped it out. Not sure if I'll make another hat or something else, but I do like the color.

Lamb's Pride Worsted. This was part of my Christmas gift from Aaron's parents. I'm thinking of making us each a Team Zissou hat from it.

Artful Yarns Museum. This was the other part of my Christmas gift from Aaron's parents. I'm thinking it would make some lovely thick mittens. Possibly felted and/or lined with fleece.

Miscellaneous Colinette. This was left over from the Ab Fab throw I made for Kim (ivory colorway). There is quite a bit of the mohair, so I might make a shawl or something. Another option is a longways scarf with fringe.

Tahki Chat. I bought this with the intention of making the >a href="http://www.theknittinggarden.com/ro-magtapething.htm">Carla sweater from Rowan's It's a Tape Thing. But then the sweater sort of un-grew on me. I think I still want to make a top with it, but I haven't found a pattern than I love yet (that I have enough yarn for). It might be something from this book (the tanks are cute).

Lopi Lite. The cream skein was used for the snowflake on Jessica's Fuzzy Feet. The brown was to match another project where I ran out of yarn, but I completely spazzed and bought Lopi Lite instead of Lopi and I never bothered returning it. Who knows what it'll become. Maybe a felted collar for the dog.

Miscellaneous yarn. This is some unidentified eyelash yarn that was going to be edging on a kid sweater, some Wendy Velvet Touch left over from a baby hat, and some Cotton Chenille left over from a flower washcloth. Yawn.

Wendy Velvet Touch. An unused skein meant for another kid hat (I made a teddy bear for the recipient instead). I might make something for myself out of it, like a sleep mask. It's very soft.

Sheep's Gift by Joslyn's Fiber Farm. This is handdyed sportweight wool destined to become a Te Rosada sweater from the Winter 2004 IK (see sidebar). As you can tell, I'm going in a slightly different direction with the color. I actually hope to make this one soon, since it'll be a good spring/summer sweater.

Recycled Cotton. This is from a Goodwill sweater (it's about half the front). I'm hoping to have enough to make the Indian Summer Jacket (link opens a PDF), available online from Interweave Press. Assuming I can get gauge, of course, which might require double stranding. I definitely want to make the project, and using recycled yarn would be a good way to make it affordable. If not, I'll use the cotton for something else and wait until I have some yarn savings to do the whole thing in the mercerized cotton.
