Kool-Aid Dyed Yarn
I was at JoAnn Fabrics yesterday (buying some patterns and scoping out fabrics for a quilting class I'm taking tomorrow) and noticed that they had Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool. I bought a skein with the intention of trying out the koolaid dyeing that I've read about all over the interenet. Turns out, it's really easy and it works (and makes the house smell fruity!) I didn't try doing a handpainted style, since I wasn't really up for a big mess, but I wound the yarn into four hanks of various sizes and dyed them in a pink and orange scheme.
I'm planning to make myself a stripey felted bag - I need to look around at some patterns to get an idea of what size I can do to use up all of the yarn. Maybe something like the knitty.com French Market Bag.
